Classic vs. Modern, Part One: Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 or 2012 Kia Rio SX

Mon, 01 Oct 2012

A recent 220-volt shock administered by the $23K-plus window sticker of a loaded Ford Fiesta rental car made me think about what the same dollars would buy in a classic car, and what the relative cost of ownership would be. We’re promised it’ll be the most powerful and dynamic model in the 108-year history of Rolls-Royce.  ‘Expect the boldest design, the most dramatic performance and the most powerful Rolls-Royce that has ever played host to the famous Spirit of Ecstasy figurine,’ said Rolls boss Torsten Müller-Ötvös when he announced the Wraith at the company’s world dealer conference in London this morning.

Mercedes Electric Drive B-Class at Paris 2012

Mon, 17 Sep 2012

Mercedes has revealed an electric version of the new B-Class – the B-Class Electric Drive Concept – which will debut at Paris 2012. Mercedes has revealed the electric B-Class in the guise of the B-Class Electric Drive Concept – a name Mercedes say will find its way on to the boot of all electric Mercedes, Smart and Tesla cars – which previews a production version by 2014. Powering the B-Class Electric Drive is the Smart electric Drive powerplant, located in the space normally taken up by the ICE, which offers 134bhp and a healthy 228lb/ft of torque with the batteries to power the electric motor housed in what Mercedes are calling the B-Class’s Energy space ahead of the rear axle.
