GM's headline concept car at today’s Paris motor show (Thursday 28), the Ultra previews Chevrolet's future design direction, as well as the Lacetti replacement. Although the muscular bodykit, ultra-wide track, funky graphics and slitty rear window will all be toned down for production, 'you won’t miss the connection when the production car arrives,' a GM insider told CAR Online.

VW Golf GTI Cabriolet unveiled

The 2012 VW Golf GTI Cabrio unveiled - but it won't arrive until summer's over Ahead of a debut at the Geneva Motor Show we get the first details and photos of the new Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet. Volkswagen has left it a bit late in the model life of the current Golf to deliver the VW Golf GTI Cabriolet, but better late than never. With 207bhp and 207lb/ft of torque the GTI Cabrio can whip to 62mph in 7.3 seconds and on to 147mph.

The Frankfurt Motor Show 2009 runs from 17th -27th September to the public Many of the Japanese makers will be conspicuous by their absence, but that should be more than made up for by the launches from the big European makers.
