Honda rolls out the CR-V concept as production launch nears

Honda on Thursday rolled out the CR-V concept, which previews the redesign for the small crossover. Honda plans to unveil the redesigned 2012 CR-V at the Los Angeles auto show in November and says the car will go on sale by the end of this year. Honda says the new CR-V will weigh less than the current model and get a more fuel-efficient engine.

Brits would rather drive than walk

ALMOST HALF (47%) of all people in the UK would rather drive than walk for a journey of up to one mile and 48% drive to work instead of trying to use any other form of transport. Despite a one mile journey taking very little more time to walk than drive, only 38% of drivers said they would use their feet in place of the car for such short journeys. Even though short journeys cause the most pollution and damage to cars, half said they would still drive.

Bill Gates, venture capitalist invest $23.5 million in EcoMotors

EcoMotors International has received $23.5 million from Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates and investor Vinod Khosla for engineering and testing of its trademarked Opoc engine technology. EcoMotors said in a statement Monday that the investment marks a key advance in commercializing its opposed piston-opposed cylinder engine.
