Auto Show: Los Angeles Auto Show gives preview into design competition

Ask automobile designers to come up with their interpretation of the 'Ultimate LA Machine' and you'll get a broad array of creative ideas. That's precisely what the LA Auto Show asked Los Angeles area automobile design studios to do - and the results are fascinating, entertaining and thought provoking. The LA Auto Show has provided a sneak peek into the competition by releasing one of the 13 entries - the Hyundai NTT, 'Entity', submitted by the Hyundai Kia America Design Center.

Lightning GT

The Lightning GT is a fresh take on all-electric mobility; a performance car with unabashed sports car proportions. Made from carbon skin draped over the chassis architecture, the dynamic shape features bulging wheelarches and creased feature lines running from front to rear. By combining these classic, British sports car design cues with state of the art battery power and innovative electric motors, the Lightning follows the path of the Tesla Roadster and has been developed with the goal of generating exhilarating performance.

Designer Paul Smith launches exhibition

DESIGN GURU Sir Paul Smith has given a glimpse into his world with a re-creation of his office forming part of a new exhibition dedicated to his work. The fashion star takes centre-stage at the Design Museum in London for the next four months with items from his vast archive on display. Sir Paul was at the launch today, posing alongside colourful life-size cardboard cut-outs and showing off sketches, designs and other paraphernalia from his lengthy career as one of Britain's best-known creative forces.
