But in the real world Honda can’t afford to ignore Toyota’s huge hybrid successes, so we got treated to the Honda Insight – a fairly woeful attempt at a hybrid. Next up from Honda was the CR-Z – which we were to believe would be spiritual successor to the CR-X – which did at least try to inject some fun in to the feeble hybrid setup with a manual ‘box.
Ford EcoSport Limited Edition arrives – just 120 for the UK from £16,995
Thu, 05 Sep 2013Ford EcoSport Limited Edition (pictured) has been revealed The Ford EcoSport – Ford’s Fiesta based SUV/Crossover – will be arriving in Ford’s UK showrooms in 2014 and to kick things off there will be 500 EcoSport Limited Edition cars. Ford revealed the Limited Edition on their Facebook page, and just 120 of the Limited Editions are heading to the UK, and to grab a reservation for one you’ll need to head over to Ford’s EcoSport page to get a reservation before completing the deal at one of Ford’s dealers. The Limited Edition will come with Ford SYNC Applink system – which lets you control Apps with voice – leather trim, a set of 17″ alloys and, as Ford say, “Ann array of advanced technologies”.
Mercury dies off, Lincoln to benefit

Following the sale of Aston Martin, Land Rover, Jaguar and most recently Volvo (to Chinese automaker Geely), the Blue Oval has now announced the demise of its 'middle of the range' Mercury brand, with production of the last vehicles set to cease at the end of 2010. In a statement released to media, Ford announced that the shuttering of the 71-year old Mercury brand was in the interest of focusing on Lincoln, the automaker's only remaining premium brand.
