GM grants Saab a reprieve, CEO Henderson resigns
Wed, 02 Dec 2009By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 02 December 2009 15:51 The board of General Motors has granted Saab a lifeline – by extending the deadline for bids on its stricken Swedish patient to 31 December 2009. GM has been trying to sell Saab for the past year, and the Swedish car maker has been under court bankruptcy protection since February 2009.GM chief executive officer Fritz Henderson also announced he was to stand down. His interim successor is hard-nosed GM chairman Ed Whitacre – meaning that GM Europe and the US mothership have both lost their bosses in a matter of weeks.
Saab sale to National Electric Vehicle Sweden confirmed
Wed, 13 Jun 2012The sale of a substantial portion of Saab assets to National Electric Vehicle Sweden has been confirmed. It’s taken a very long time, but Saab has finally found a new home in the hands of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, as we reported last week. National Electric Vehicles Sweden has been set up to take over the assets of Saab and is a consortium of Japanese, Swedish and Chinese stakeholders, but it does not get the contentious Saab 9-5 technology that has dogged the sale of Saab so far.
Tokyo Motor Show: Jaguar F-Type Coupe
Wed, 20 Nov 2013HOT On the heels of the critically acclaimed F-Type Roadster, Jaguar has unveiled the hardtop version: the F-Type Coupe. Wowing audiences at both Los Angeles and Tokyo motor shows, the tin-top version of the British luxury car builder’s new model is expected to hit UK showrooms next March. The car, styled by long standing Jaguar design boss Ian Callum, gains the same V6 petrol motor as the Roadster, however there’s a tweaked V8 for the flagship F-Type R boasting a considerable 542bhp.
