Axon Automotive's plug-in hybrid due to market in 2011 We’re used to seeing plug-in hybrids coming at us from major manufacturers as they try to out eco one another. Axon Automotive’s plug-in hybrid has been revealed at the Milton Keynes Science Festival and can be used as a pure electric car or with its small petrol or bioethanol engine.

German supercar maker Gumpert has filed for insolvency after a foray in to China failed to realise the expected sales. Gumpert – German maker of extreme supercars – has instigated insolvency proceedings after its plan to make the newly wealthy Chinese fall in love with its bonkers cars floundered.

Rankin: Spirit of Ecstasy collection

Earlier this year, Rolls-Royce announced its collaboration with renowned photographer Rankin in celebration of the Spirit of Ecstasy centenary. Over the course of the collaboration, Rankin has snapped 100 images all inspired by the Spirit of Ecstasy – the defining feature of Rolls-Royce's face. Exploring the femininity of the ‘Flying lady', Rankin worked with a variety of materials, fabrics and paint to create the portraits and other works.
