Manufacturer Part Number:Navico WP5000 Wheel Steering Autopilot Brand:Navico WP5000 Autopilot

This Navico WHEELPILOT WP5000 Wheel Steering Autopilot is used, in great condition.  It was used on a 38' sailboat, and the owner couldn't bear to GIVE IT UP WITH THE SHIP when he sold her.  Rated for boats in the 32-42 ft. range, depending on weight.  Comes with the Instrument, Instrument Mount, Drive Motor with engagement lever, the Wheel Drum with hardware, A new cockpit/wheelhouse 12 Volt electrical connector.  The drive belt and Navico factory Manual.     Everything looks good and functions well- There are numerous photos showing its details and condition.

This is a VERY SIMPLE, PRACTICAL AND EASY TO INSTALL INSTRUMENT, which can prevent the installation and use of a very expensive  unit.  The drive drum bolts on to the spokes of the existing wheel (Usually a stainless steel 'Destroyer' wheel) , and is driven by the powerful motor, which is quickly engaged or disengaged by flicking the clutch lever on the mount.  In addition, this is a great unit to use with TRADITIONAL wooden wheels.  (I have seen this exact unit mounted on an  early Gaff-Riggers wooden wheel- This is sometimes the ONLY way to adapt an autopilot to vintage boats.  The spacers on the existing U bolts simply slide out, allowing the U bolts to fit over the larger diameter spokes on wooden wheels.  In the event of much larger wooden spokes, brass 'U' bolts can be quickly fabricated to secure the drive ring, if necessary).  The instrument can be mounted on the Pedestal, or in any convenient vertical surface in the Cockpit or Wheelhouse.

In addition, this instrument and motor have the additional advantage of being able to be quickly and easily removed from the Pedestal, for STORAGE BELOWDECKS OR OFF THE BOAT. (Preventing the unit from "Walking Off", as well as minimizing Marine Exposure.)

Instrument measures about 3" X 6".    Motor is about 5 1/2" long and the drive ring is 11 3/8" across.   Mount has a quick release pin which allows easy motor removal for storage.  The drive ring comes with four wheel mounts, though three are typically used on most wheels.  Ring can be easily drilled to accomodate any wheel configuraion.   The drive belt is provided.  Should another length belt be required, they are widely and expensively available on Ebay or the Internet.  Belts are long lived,

Electrical hookup was a simple 12 volt, two wire connection. .   Comes with a new quality waterprooof connector for the cockpit or wheelhouse.    Everything is designed for easy stowage belowdecks or off the vessel if desired.  Installation will be quite FAST AND SIMPLE.

I have powered this unit up, and it works fine.  The motor operates powerfully, with no untoward noises, and advances properly according to the demands of the instrument.  The  instrument is quite simple to use- The course is found on the vessel's compass and 'set'.  The instrument can make corrections in +10 and - 10 degree increments, and then is then 'fine tuned' with the one degree increments- Very fast and simple to use.  Manual is very thorough and should answer any mounting or operation questions.   Autopilot was always stored and looks GREAT.

Please note- U.S. / Canada/ Western Europe sale only on this unit.

A great safety tool to head the boat up while doing sail changes, as well as making for RELAXING PASSAGES as "Otto" hums away, steering a BETTER COURSE than most of us can.

The unit is VERY HIGH QUALITY     and is quite heavily made. Quite Hard to Find- A comparable autopilot can cost many thousands of dollars, yet this powerful, PRACTICAL AND ACCURATE NAVICO WP5000 is offered with a very....................Low Starting Bid.

Chinese Grand Prix (2014): RESULT

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

Chinese Grand Prix (2014): RESULT Qualifying for the 2014 China Grand Prix yesterday saw a much more level playing field than we’ve seen so far this year thanks to a rain-soaked track. But that didn’t stop Lewis Hamilton taking an easy pole (although the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and Sebastian Vettel squeezed Nico Rosberg in to fourth place) and, true to current form, Hamilton flew away to win the Chinese Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg, after dropping to sixth place after a poor start, fought back to make this another Mercedes one-two. Hamilton’s drive was a crushing one – he pulled away strongly from the start and cruised to the win – but it was livelier behind.

V6 dropped for redesigned Mazda 6 sedan

Wed, 25 Apr 2012

Mazda will drop the V6 engine from the Mazda 6 lineup, the company told Automotive News. Instead, the redesigned Mazda 6 will use powertrains from Mazda's Skyactiv technology bin, including direct-injection four-cylinder engines and ultra-efficient transmissions. “We believe that the balance of fuel economy and power that Skyactiv offers is what customers want,” a Mazda spokesman said.

2013 Land Rover Freelander 2 facelift coming

Tue, 03 Jul 2012

Land Rover are working on a mild facelift for the Freelander 2 for 2013 as it comes towards the end of its shelf life. It’s almost two years since Land Rover last facelifted the Freelander 2, a car that’s been with us since 2006, when they threw in some minor cosmetic tweaks, the first FWD Land Rover and gave us a more powerful diesel option. Somewhere prior to that Land Rover had quietly dropped the V6 petrol engine (in the UK, at least), so adding a more powerful version of the 2.2 litre diesel made sense as did providing a lower price entry point in the FWD Freelander.
