Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger to get a new lease on life

With Fiat-based replacements still at least two years away, the Chrysler Group has delayed plans to kill its slow-selling Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger, sources say. The two sedans were all but left for dead by previous owner Cerberus Capital Management. Now insiders say Chrysler intends to freshen the cars and keep them on the market until late 2012.

Ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show we have the first official photos of the 2013 Volkswagen Golf arrive. The new VW Golf – the MK 7 – was revealed today in Berlin and we’ve got the first official photos ahead of VW’s official release. Looking more sophisticated than the current Golf, the new Golf is underpinned by VW’s MQB Platform – which also underpins the new Audi A3 and SEAT Leon – and comes in at up to 100kg less than the current Golf.

BMW X4 confirmed – one more time

It was always going to be on the cards after the unexpected success of the X6, but the birth of the BMW X4 – a coupĂ© version of the new X3 – has been the subject of endless rumours, almost since the X6 started to sell in unexpected numbers. We reported as far back as April 2010 that BMW were close to deciding an X4 was a no brainer; after all, with a lot of the world ‘downsizing’ their transport, a smaller X6 should be a seller. By this time last year we heard that BMW had already made the decision and we had it on good authority that the X4 was confirmed and signed-off and would be heading to showrooms by 2013.
