Parting Out: 1975 Vw Rabbit Golf I Swallowtail Volkswagen Mk1 A1 on 2040-parts.com
Sioux Falls, South Dakota, US
This listing features a 1975 Volkswagen Rabbit (4/75 build date - Anacona? Blue paint). I will sell it complete (as shown in pics in conjunction with description below), or I will sell parts off of it. If you are interested in purchasing vehicle whole, PLEASE message me to determine what has been sold off vehicle since pics were last taken! It has many good salvageable parts & I would prefer to part it out as I believe it is beyond saving (for most folks), and of course, its probably worth more in parts as well. However, if you have (or can get) a clean(er) swallowtail shell, an early car this complete would GREATLY aid you in your restoration efforts! I'm not sure, but I think this may be a European model based on what I've read is a non-U.S. color and the "plain jane" door panels.
Please message me with any parts requests & we can set up a Buy-It-Now listing on here for you!
CONDITION: The rockers are COMPLETELY gone on this thing - see pics below. there is significant floor rot as well, and there will be multiple frozen drums as well.
The following hard to find parts are present though:
- Early "smooth" hood
- Early grille
- Early washer nozzle
- Early hood release
- Early outside handles
- Early door pulls
- Early ash tray with shift drawing
- (Presumably) early oil pan
- Carb. setup
- Early strut towers (some rust, unsure if worth saving)
- Swallowtail rear bonnet
- Early seats
- Early seat belts (pass. side receiver is missing)
- Early rear glass with no defrost lines
- Early logo'd glass - clear
- Early rear metal emblems (included but not shown)
- (Presumably) early 4 speed
- Early HVAC controls
- Early stalks
- Early speedo cluster lights
- Early hatchback (frozen, so unsure about prop rod)
- etc...
Early parts I know its missing include: rain tray cover and rear parcel cover. Antenna is fender mounted. There may be others. Parts that are no longer included are fuel cap, beltline trim & rocker trim. However, most of the other good stuff is still present. Windshield is even intact.
There is (currently) no title with this car, but the P.O. is attempting to locate it. There is a very good chance he will find it, but it will take time. The car can currently be purchased WHOLE with a bill of sale. It CANNOT be exported without a title however. Please message for details.
TRANSPORT: I will work with you or the shipper of your choice to transport this vehicle. In all likelihood, you will need a trailer with a winch to get it off the ground. Or you will need a come-along and an hour or two! In other words, your typical car shipper won't touch this thing with a ten foot pole. I can also offer transport, but it will cost you $1/mile both ways for the 1st 750 miles, and .50/mile after that.
PAYMENT: If buying parts, payment must be received within 4 days, Paypal preferred. If buying whole, $500 non-refundable deposit via Paypal within 48 hours, balance in cash / bank transfer prior to or upon pickup. Balance needs to be paid within 2 weeks of purchase. Vehicle pickup needs to happen within 2 weeks of purchase (very negotiable if paid in full).
We are currently parting out numerous older Volkswagens (and the occasional non-VW), please write with your parts requests, thanks.
This is a salvage vehicle and is being sold for parts only. It is not operational or street legal. Therefore, upon purchase, it will need to be either towed or put on a trailer. This item is NOT eligible for the eBay Motors Vehicle Purchase Protection Program.

Lamborghini Aventador J Roadster revealed officially
Mon, 05 Mar 2012Lamborghini Aventador J Roadster After the leak of the Lamborghini Aventador J over the weekend, tonight we get the official reveal of Lamborghini’s stripped-out Aventador Roadster When we ran leaked photos of the Lamborghini Aventador J Roadster at the weekend we said it threatened to steal a bit of Ferrari’s limelight at the Geneva Motor Show – and it will. The Aventador J Roadster is Aventador to the max, with all fripperies – including the windscreen and roof sacrificed in the pursuit of low weight and extreme performance. Lamborghini say the Aventador J is a four-wheeled sport-bike, and they’re not wrong.
How South America designed the Ford Ka
Thu, 31 Jul 2014The Ka Concept was shown at the São Paulo auto show in Brazil in November 2013, and was revealed in production form last week. It marks the first time the Ka has reflected the broader brand homogeneity of the 'One Ford' design strategy, and continues the Ka's shift in direction from the distinctive original. The new car is the work of Ford's South American design studio in Camaçari, Brazil - its second 'One Ford' car, following the EcoSport. But while the crossover enters a new segment, the 17-year history of the Ka nameplate in Brazil gives an insight into how the demands of the local market have taken precedence over design iconicity.
