Study finds teens model driving habits after parents

Teen driving habits are heavily influenced by those of their parents, according to a recent study by Toyota and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. Good or bad, teens are likely to model their level of distraction and attention to safety after their parents, according to the national study that surveyed teen drivers ages 16 to 18 and parents of teen drivers. In general, parents who engage in distracting behaviors more frequently have teens who engage in distracting behaviors, according to the study.

Top Gear Best of British Cars Parade on the Mall The new series of Top Gear (Series 20) starts next Sunday, and it looks like the segment on the new Jaguar F-Type is going to be Top Gear’s most ambitious shoot yet. Apart from the trio of F-Types leading the procession, there’s everything from a McLaren P1 – and a couple of 12Cs – by way of an Aston Martin One-77 to fire engines, Nissans, lawn mowers, motorbikes, a selection of F1 cars from Red Bull, McLaren et al, and any other metal you can imagine.

5,000 2009 Toyota Prius (pictured) are being recalled Toyota has had a bit of a nightmare with recalls in recent years, and the news that they’re now having to recall 242,000 Prius models from 2009 worldwide is another financial, and logistical, problem for Toyota. But in truth, the recalls are about car makers now taking responsibility for faults in their cars which become apparent long after warranties have expired, and that’s no bad thing. The Prius models affected are those built between March 2009 and October 2009 (you can check if your car is affected here) and the UK has 4,947 cars on the road that need to be looked at by Toyota’s dealers.
