To understand CHIP Tuning, you should understand the function of today’s motors in rough detail. Since the 1990s, control units are built into the engines. Initially these control units only had simple functions. Thus, originally only the information on the fuel quantity and the injection time was transmitted by signal to the nozzles. The data in a program and a database are processed in the engine control unit depending on these various parameters (provided by probes and sensors). Thus, the load pressure, injection quantity and ignition time are passed on to the engine. This program or the database are located in one or more chips in the control unit. Even though Cars UK didn’t get an invite we decided to shove up a review of the Rapide covering what we knew from all the bumph Aston Martin had sent us and the opinions we’d formed from seeing the car. It wasn’t sour grapes – although it would have been nice to be asked – but looking at the reviews written by those who went on the ‘Jolly’ we were pretty much on the money.

Which explains why Bentley has decided to go the hybrid route for their cars, with the debut of the Bentley Hybrid, a Mulsanne with the 6¾ litre V8 under the bonnet aided by an electric motor and a bank of batteries, at the Beijing Motor Show. It seems the Bentley hybrid solution – which is claimed to increase power by 25 per cent and improve emissions and economy by 70 per cent – is very similar to that used across the VW Group range, with an electric motor between the engine and transmission fed by a bank of batteries.

The R&T crew headed to Matano's design studio and asked him to create his ideal sedan in just five minutes before destroying it at the end of the film. This latest video is the second in the series, which started with Ian Cartabiano from Calty Design in California design and destroy his ultimate sports car.
