Mon, 26 Dec 2011Tesla Roadster Final Edition Tesla Roadster S production ends this year, and Tesla are saying goodbye to their first car with the Roadster Final Edition. Despite antipathy about the price and the range, the Tesla Roadster is the first proper electric sports car to hit the road – and sell. Tesla has managed to sell 2,600 Roadsters based on a Lotus platform since the Roadster launched, but production is now ending.

The very last Mercedes McLaren SLR – The McLaren SLR Stirling Moss – has now rolled out of production at McLaren in Woking and both Mercedes and McLaren are going their seperate ways. McLaren is working to bring the new McLaren MP4-12C to market by 2011 as a replacement for the SLR, and Mercedes has already launched their replacement – the Mercedes SLS AMG Gulllwing – although it will be a few more months before cars hit the road.

Tue, 25 Jan 2011Volkswagen 'will build the XL1' - Piech Volkswagen today unveiled the XL1 - its latest concept car iteration of its 'one-litre' eco car, 2011-style. Originally the brainchild of Ferdinand Piech, the VW L1 was the 2002 vision for a green car that supped just one litre of fuel per 100 kilometres. Now the idea is back for 2011, and it's called the XL1.
