2012 Jaguar XF - the XF comes of age Update: We now also have video of the 2012 Jaguar XF and the 2012 XFR below. Exactly as expected, and with pretty much all the changes we predicted, Jaguar has launched the 2012 Jaguar XF and 2012 Jaguar XFR at the New York Motor Show. Probably best to start with the biggest news, certainly in terms of future sales, which is the arrival of the 2.2 litre Diesel XF, a move which should see sales of the already hugely successful XF double.

After a successful design competition between famous Italian design houses to rework the little Cinquecento, Fiat renewed the experience two years later by giving to nine of them – including Fiat's in-house studio – a new Fiat Punto as a base to let their creative juices flow. The results ranged from being simply forgettable (Zagato Monomille), ridiculously daft (Boneschi Doblone) or just plain ugly (Giannini Punto 4x4 TL), but one of the concepts stood out from the flock for being brilliantly bold. This was the Fiat Scia, presented to the public at the 1993 Turin Auto Show.

Umea University students complete Saab collaboration project

A selection of first-year students from Sweden's Umea University have completed a 10-week collaborative design project with Saab. Tasked with exploring new directions for the brand, students were encouraged to investigate the interplay of brand and identity. Each of them was assigned a non-automotive brand to reflect on parallels that could be established between that brand and Saab, whilst also capturing the essence of the Swedish carmaker through their project's concept, its proportions, surface language, details, graphics, functionality and material choices.
