VW Golf R 400 (2014) first picture
Wed, 16 Apr 2014By Damion Smy First Official Pictures 16 April 2014 23:01 VW just has to make this car! The VW Golf R 400 is the most ballistic, angry VW Golf that the factory has ever built – as quick as the VW Vision GTI Concept but based on the current Golf R, so it seems tantalisingly viable for production. With a ridiculous 3.9sec 0-62mph claim, the ‘400’, named after its Porsche 911 Carrera S-matching 400PS (395bhp), will rocket into the Beijing motor show to say ‘Cop this, A45 AMG’.
Sleek new Volvo Concept Coupe previews ahead of Frankfurt 2013
Thu, 29 Aug 2013Volvo’s brave new future starts here. In the metal (and aluminium) it’s embodied by this Concept Coupe, a 2+2 grand tourer that evokes the spirit of the classic 1960s P1800. Prepared for this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show the Concept Coupe shows how all future Volvos will look, starting with the XC90 in 12 months’ time.
Porsche makes £14k on every car it sells, Bentley makes £12.7k
Fri, 14 Mar 2014Porsche made £14k on every car sold in 2013 If you need an illustration of how much more profitable high-end sports and luxury cars are than mainstream cars, VW Groups sales figures demonstrate it perfectly. At the extreme ends of the profit per car spectrum, Porsche made an enviable £13,931 for every car it sold in 2013 and VW made just £615 (although SEAT actually lost £330 on every car it sold) . In fact, although you might expect the higher-priced Bentley range to make more per car than a Porsche, Bentley only managed a creditable second place on VW Group’s profit per car table, turning in £12,700 profit for every car it turned out (11,000 of them in 2013).
