This gorgeous two-seat roadster is the BMW Vision ConnectedDrive, set to be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show. Unlike some of BMW’s other Vision-tagged concept cars, this unfortunately isn’t a thinly disguised production car, but a study designed to highlight the company’s driver assistance systems.
However, although BMW has released no details on the engine or layout under the sexy skin, thankfully the Vision ConnectedDrive’s stunning styling (including the shark nose, wrap-around rear lights and layered body) will find its way onto future production BMWs.
For a start sensors in the headlamps and rear lights monitor the traffic situation and the environment around the car, while instead of wing mirrors there are antennas that receive navigation data and transmit other information. Inside the driver has a 3D head-up display, and the system can project information about the chosen sat-nav route so it appears at the exact point of a possible turn-off. The 3D system also displays information in the foreground or background of the display depending on its relevance.

Now Volvo has its new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), and its new Drive-E engine range, heading for production they’ve been planning three new concepts to show off the possibilities the new architecture and engines promise. The first of those was the very appealing Volvo Concept Coupe which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year as a 21st century take on the classic Volvo P1800. With stunning looks, a new nose evolved from the earlier Concept You, floating grill and slim headlights, the Concept Coupe also came with a 4WD drivetrain powered by a 2.0 litre petrol and an electric motor for an output of 395bhp.

The Hyundai ix35 FCEV completes record distance on a tank of hydrogen
Now the Hyundai ix35 FCEV (the hydrogen-powered version of Hyundai’s iz35) is starting to move out in to the real world (in a small way) Hyundai are keen to shout about its abilities. And perhaps its greatest ability is to do everything an ICE-powered ix35 can do, but doing it using hydrogen to create electricity to power the IX35′ electric motors, but do that in a way that creates a car with the same sort of range as an ICE car and the ability to refuel in a very similar way, and in a very similar time. So Hyundai decided to fill the tank up on an ix35 FCEV in Oslo and head off to Copenhagen to see if they could do it without needing to fill up.
