Webinars: Realism & Product Correctness in Realtime from RTT

The quality of 3D visualization has improved markedly in recent years as a result of new algorithms – allowing design decisions to be made on the basis of virtual models. Products, including the interior and exterior design of a vehicle, can now be portrayed very realistically using high-end visualization software. This webinar, entitled 'Realism & Product Correctness in Realtime', demonstrates how product lifecycles in the automotive industry – which range from design, development and production through to marketing and sales – is becoming increasingly digital.

CDN-GM Interactive Design Competition - Exterior Phase Launched

We're pleased to announce the launch of the second phase of the CDN-GM Interactive Design Competition, which challenges design students in North America to create an exterior design in response to briefs from each of GM's four brands – Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC. This second, exterior design phase of the competition – which can be found at www.cardesigncontest.com – follows on from the previous interiors design phase and again challenges students to design against briefs set by each of GM's four brands. Remember, you don't have to have entered or registered for the interiors phase in order to take part in this exterior phase of the competition.

Teewave AR1 (2011) - Gordon Murray's roadster unveiled

It may have a daft name - let's face it, driving a car called a Teewave does sound terrifically uncool - but Gordon Murray Design's latest creation is a very important vehicle. The Teewave AR1 not only showcases the Surrey-based company's design and engineering capabilities that elevate it to full design studio status, but also illustrates the very sweet spot where engineering integrity, lightweight material and want-one design meet. We joined design director Barry Lett at GMD on the day Project T32 was being primed for shipment to Tokyo for its public debut by Toray.
