The video interface for
2011-up VW vehicles with RNS-315 radio will allow you to add up to three
video sources including backup camera, DVD, iPod video and TV tuner.
The interface will only work with Volkswagen vehicles with the RNS-315
radio installed.
Please make sure that the unit in your vehicle is the same as the one pictured below:
The interface for the Volkswagen RNS315 radio is plug & play, however the interface needs to be connected via a ribbon cable inside the factory headunit. You will need to be able to open up the radio, remove a factory ribbon cable and connect the included ribbon cable that comes with the interface. In addition, you will also need to get 12v ignition power to the unit and ground. We supply complete instructions on how to connect the unit. Once the interface is installed you will then be able to add backup camera, DVD or any other video source.
If you are interested in adding backup camera, the interface will allow you to connect a wire to reverse lights in the vehicle which will allow the backup camera view to display on the factory screen when the vehicle is switched into reverse gear.
If you are adding a video source like dvd player or iPod video via the interface for Volkswagen RNS315 you will need to either use the factory aux inout for sound or, you will need to use an aftermarket aux in or fm modulator.
