Google boss says Mercedes has ‘Magical Software’

Google's Vic Gundotra praises the Mercedes S-Class The common perception is that everyone at Google drives a Prius or an EV or has no interest in anything as last century as personal transport. Google has a fleet of eco-cars – plug-in Evs and range extenders – for employees’ use and runs a biodiesel shuttle for ‘Googlers’ to get to work. It’s also been busy building recharging points in and around its home in Mountain view.

Drivers 'don't care' about engine oil

JUST 4% of drivers choose which engine oil goes into their car during a service, according to new research. The remaining 96% either don’t care or simply go with whatever a mechanic recommends, leading to calls from a leading engine oil manufacturer and the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) for raised awareness of the benefits of high-grade engine lubricants. In a study of 1,000 drivers, conducted on behalf of Mobil 1, 65% said they wouldn’t know what oil viscosity their car would need to take, while 69% added they had no idea which brand of oil their car manufacturer recommends.

Mercedes C Class sales top 500,000

It’s nice to hear a bit of good news for a change. Mercedes has just passed a big landmark with sales of the current C Class, passing the 500,000 mark since the car’s launch in March of 2007. The C Class is the modern version of the 190 – the car everyone said would be the downfall of Mercedes.
