Drivers walk to avoid parking feesTue, 19 Nov 2013DRIVERS are voting with their feet over parking charges, with most prepared to walk so they do not have to pay. On average, drivers are willing to walk up to half a mile to dodge parking charges, a survey from market research company Viewsbank found. A fifth of motorists were prepared to walk a mile or more rather than pay up, with only 11% saying they would rather pay than walk, the poll of 2,053 drivers revealed. Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio ‘Facelift’ revealedThu, 22 May 2014Citroen DS3 and DS3 Cabrio ‘Facelift’ revealed The baby of the DS range – the Citroen DS3 – is still one of our favourite hatches, and although it’s been with us a few years it still feels current. Which perhaps explains why Citroen’s facelift of the DS3 really amounts to not much more than some new posh headlights and some technology and engine updates. The headline news is the new lighting on the DS3 (although only the DSport gets it as standard) with xenon units with an LED lighting element which, say Citroen, use 35 pe3r cent less power on dipped beam and 75 per cent less on main beam, have a 20,000 hour life (20 times that of a standard halogen bulb) and are derived from the lights on the Numero 9 and Wild Rubis Concepts. Williams F1 sells Williams Hybrid Power to GKN for £8 millionMon, 07 Apr 2014GKN have bought williams Hybrid Power in an £8 deal Back in 2010 we reported on a flywheel developed by Williams F1 that recoups energy from braking, and was fitted to a Porsche 911 GT3 to give an extra boost of power. Williams F1 developed the Flywheel technology with a start-up company, which it bought out for £1.5 million in 2010, and now that company – which became Williams Hybrid Power – has been sold to GKN in a deal worth £8 million – and a share of sales revenue going forward – and is being renamed GKN Hybrid Power. The plan is to use the flywheel technology to reduce fuel consumption of transport that is constantly stopping and starting – it’s currently being used on a bus operating in London – and Williams expect it could cut fuel use by up to 30 per cent. 2040Parts.com © 2012-2024.
