When the Limited Edition Audi A1 quattro was revealed just before Christmas, we did warn you that it would probably cost in the region of £30 when the 333 A1 quattros arrived this year. But we were wrong.

Its sprawling physical size dwarfs any motor show, making even the maze of Frankfurt's Messe seem compact, while the list of exhibitors can be plain overwhelming. Trying to contain the creative force of nature that is the world's largest design fair in one venue simply isn't possible, either.

Called the P1 GTR, McLaren’s take on the ultimate track day weapon is not street legal and gets 83bhp more than the standard P1, boosting power to 986bhp. The teaser image, released ahead of Pebble Beach, hints at the huge changes engineers have made to the more powerful, tracksuited P1.
